Day 30
I am doing this year long self discovery art journaling workshop hosted by Milliande A ning group I've been a member of for several years now. I don't usually participate but this year I am doing things for self exploration and I am enjoying myself tremendously. This is from Assignment 4 which uses images from the previous assignments to create shapes from random doodles, these are a few of the shapes I found and practiced drawing this past week. Something to do while watching TV and learning about my own personal symbols of which there are many. (Symbols aren't part of the workshop-yet-maybe Milliande will be guiding us towards them at a later time.)

Week 4
Trying to keep up with this daily journal blog is getting to be a headache. I can't remember whether or not I posted something because I post to so many places. Groups I belong to, my private flickr account, pinterest, facebook, etc. etc. etc. Maybe I should downsize the places I post to then perhaps I could remember if I posted everything where it should be posted. :-D
This weeks word prompt is" Shadows. This was created from an image I staged at the park last fall. I blended it with a hand-painted background and added some bird brushes to make it appear as if we are in a bird sanctuary. Or out bird watching. It's all an illusion! :-D

Day 20
Brrrrrrrrrr...it was cold yesterday but we had layers and layers of clothing on to help keep us warm. We also had lots of wonderful powdery white stuff to play in! Snowshoeing at the park is the only winter sport that I truly enjoy doing myself. I can watch others snow-board or ski down a mountain while I stay in the lodge drinking hot coffee! But, I could get out every day and perform this amazing exercise that doesn't feel like an exercise until you start sweating! Cross-Country Skiing on a groomed trail, up at Park City, will be next! :-D (Maybe next year! LOL! I still have to talk myself into it.)
This is a photo of my GD in her SpongeBob hat that she for Christmas. She didn't take it off for 3 days-even slept in it. She's wearing her new coat that Great Grandma Geri gave her for Christmas. Perfect fit Mom! :-D

Day 15
I am a little late in getting something posted because I spent all day yesterday working on my Terms of Use for my digital kits. I cleaned up the shop, changed a few prices and decided to throw in another Freebie since it's been awhile since I shared some of my digital art with you. I totally enjoyed creating these Parisian borders that are a full 12" wide, but since they are in a png format, they can used for a variety of artworks like: ATC's, Postcards, as a border for a photo. I hope you will enjoy them. You can download them for free at: Digiscrapstation

Day 10
Wow-I am really ahead of myself but I have been cleaning up my studio, re-organizing the shelves so I can actually see the items that I have available to use. I swapped out all the chipboard shoe boxes with
see-through plastic ones, so decided to recycle the chipboard. (I hoard this stuff because it can be used for so many things!) These pieces will be recycled into new journal covers and used to create a variety of shaped journals. Shapes are even more fun to make and easy when using the custom shape tools in the digital software. This time I will be using up a variety of vintage papers that have been waiting years to be used in a project. The hoarding must end! Use it up or give it away! Another goal I did not achieve last year, or the year before, but I have high hopes for this year to be successful in downsizing! :-D

Week 2 and Day 6
The word for this week is "Perspective" and this photo spoke to me on several levels. In my minds eye, this building is a wonderful example of using distant vanishing points, but it also speaks to me emotionally. It has some history in regards to our children of the past, it is an abandoned orphanage that I found in Trinidad, CO. (A quaint little town that I fell in love with). I altered this photo from a drab, dreary image to this bright, colorful version because it needed a face lift. I wanted it to be considered a happy place where children grew up playing in the sun, growing up as a single unit family, bonding with other children, like real brothers and sisters who they were sharing their lives with. I wonder what happened to the children and what stories they could tell.
I used fotosketcher, along with filters and some painting effects in CS5 to liven up this image a little. For being an abandoned building, it sure cleaned up good. Now it's a work of art. :-D
